Film critic Àlex Gorina and theatre director Alícia Gorina present “Watching Peeping Tom”

On the 10th of March the Espai Brossa venue of the La Seca Theatre will host a dramatized reflection on Michael Powell’s classic horror thriller film “Peeping Tom”

Theatre director Alícia Gorina and her father, film critic Àlex Gorina, present Watching Peeping Tom in the Espai Brossa venue of the La Seca Theatre – a conference-format drama based on the 1960 thriller/horror film Peeping Tom, directed by Michael Powell. Among other aspects, the one-off performance on the 10th of March attempts to offer a reflection on artistic perspective, the dividing line between reality and fiction, and the influence of the film’s creators on the theatre director’s work.

While the protagonist of Peeping Tom is a disturbed film director obsessed with capturing horror on film, in Watching Peeping Tom, Àlex Gorina offers a master class on the film that transcends the stage boundaries when his daughter attempts to explain how she lives and understands theatre from a director’s perspective, leading to a collective reflection on objectivity and subjectivity in the world that surrounds us.

Before attending the performance it is advisable to have seen the film, which will be screened in the Filmoteca on the 6th of March at 5 pm. The film will also be screened (after Watching Peeping Tom) on the 20th of March at 10 pm.
