The Fiesta of Santa Eulàlia

Fiesta of Santa Eulalia

Popular culture takes to the streets of Barcelona during its biggest winter festival.

Although the main festival of Barcelona is La Mercè in September, we also celebrate the winter thanks to the Fiesta of Santa Eulàlia, in which traditional popular culture takes to the streets of the city. Among the festive figures that characterise the celebrations are giants, dragons, devils the city’s giant eagle figure and the giantess Laia. There will also be spectacular displays by human castle builders and stick dancing. The parades will also be attended by giants from as far afield as Valencia.

All the festivities will take place from 8 to 12 February in the centre of Barcelona and will also be marked by open days at a number of the city’s institutions, as well as walking routes and street fairs.

All of these activities are free of charge. You can consult the whole programme on the Barcelona City Council website.
