You have until 4 September to enjoy 160 concerts in a variety of styles
One of the most refreshing events on Barcelona’s summer music agenda is back for a new edition. The Mas i Mas Festival features a varied programme with more than 160 concerts in many different styles including jazz, flamenco, hip-hop, techno, gospel and classical music..
Among the highlights of this year’s edition is an appearance by Maria del Mar Bonet (Palau de la Música, 28 July) in which the Majorcan musician, who is set to celebrate her 50th year as a perfomer, will bring together songs from her two albums devoted to Ramon Llull. Another highlight is the solo concert by the promising young pianist Minsung Lee (Palau de la Música, 1 August). This Korean musician won the second prize in the 2015 Maria Canals Barcelona International Music Competition.
Another date to look out for features Sara Pi (El Born Centre Cultural, 19 August), who will be presenting her new album Break the Chains (2015), which features a blend of intimate atmospheres, exotic cadences and electric soul. Finally, we’d like to highlight concerts by Clara Peya (El Born Centre Cultural, 20 August) and Nexus (Palau de la Música, 22 August), a piano duet consisting of Joan Miquel Hernández and Mireia Fornells, with a repertoire than includes pieces by Granados, Albéniz and Falla.
