Llum BCN 2019

Llum BCN lights up Poblenou

Installations by international artists use light to transform the neighbourhood.

Llum BCN is a festival in which internationally renowned artists set up their installations in different spots in Poblenou for three consecutive nights. In addition, more than fifty spaces in the city will be transformed through the creations of art, design, lighting and architecture schools, transforming the neighbourhood and the city into an open-air laboratory buzzing with creation and experimentation that is open for everyone to enjoy. This year’s edition sees the incorporation of new emplacements including charming spots such as Plaça Dolors Piera and locations outside Poblenou, such as the Mies van de Rohe Foundation. Twenty-six of the installations are by professionals, including ‘Emergències’ by the photographer Manolo Laguillo, which lights up one of the most emblematic emergency staircases in Poblenou, and ‘Láser' by Estudi Antoni Arola, which marks with three beams of continuous light an itinerary through the main streets that host the festival.

Llum BCN will take place every evening on 15, 16 and 17 February. Among the participating artists are Rafael Lozano-Hemmer and Daniel Canogar, pioneers in the use of new digital tools such as Kyle McDonald and Joanie Lemercier and important representatives of the new creative scenes in Barcelona.

All the activities in BCN Llum are free of charge. Additional information is available at the following link.
