Femi Kuti & The Positive Force in the BARTS

The heir to the pioneer of afrobeat will perform on the 24th of April as part of the programme for the 25 Guitar Festival BCN

As part of the programme for the 25 Guitar Festival BCN, the BARTS will host a concert by Femi Kuti & The Positive Force on Thursday, the 24th of April. Heir to the legendary Nigerian musician, Fela Kuti, who died in 1997 and is considered the pioneer of afrobeat, Femi Kuti has kept the flame of this musical genre burning during a career that has spanned almost three decades.

The musician-singer, now 51, presents his latest release, his seventh, entitled No place for my dream, a new project which fuses the habitual African funk rhythms with a clear political message condemning the devastating consequences of Western economic imperialism of the continent of Africa.

In addition to the power of the brass section and his commanding voice, Kuti is able to fuse the festive spirit of his people with a lyrical content that focuses on social issues. Music with a conscience in a powerful live performance that is sure to have the audience dancing non-stop.
