A new walking tour explores the façades of this major Catalan modernist architect

Casa Amatller, Casa Serra, Casa de les Punxes and Palau Macaya are some of the buildings in Barcelona designed by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. 2017 will see the 150th anniversary of his birth with the Year of Puig i Cadafalch, during which there will be a complete schedule of acts and events to commemorate a figure that transcended the world of architecture since this native of Mataró was also an art historian, and archaeologist and a politician, among other things, as well as being the last President of the Mancomunitat de Catalunya.

One of the first activities of the commemoration is an itinerary on 27 December in which Cases Singulars will take you on a trips around the facades of the most important buildings in Barcelona’s Eixample designed by Puig i Cadafalch. A guide will offer information on the building’s history, the owners who commissioned its construction and the artistic details and singularities of each façade.

Following this first tour, Cases Singulars is scheduling from one to two every month until June 2017. Places are limited and preregistration is required. The price includes discounted admission to Casa Amatller and Palau Paró de Quadras and complementary vermouth in the vermouth bar at Casa de les Punxes.
