An exhibition by Shepard Fairey in the 3 Punts Gallery

The exhibition includes some of the artist’s street-art designs and pieces and can be seen up until the 23rd of November

Up until the 23rd of November the 3 Punts Gallery in Barcelona is hosting an exhibition of some of the more popular pieces by North American artist Shepard Fairey, one of the top exponents of street art alongside such other well-known names as the British artist Bansky and Frenchman Blek Le Rat.

The exhibition includes a varied selection of short, hand-painted editions, silk-screen prints and one-off pieces by an artist who is well accustomed to fusing art with social message, transforming popular stereotypes and subverting popular culture. His graphic work experiments with advertising topics from the 40s, Russian poster art, pop art, North American comics and punk stylings.

Among his more popular pieces are the satirical political notices focusing on ex US presidents Nixon and Reagan, caustic anti-war and anti-fascist critiques, pieces commissioned by musical groups and film makers and, what is probably his most famous piece, the Obama Hope poster used in the presidential campaign of 2008.
