Passion for Pharaonic Egypt

The Egyptian Museum commemorates 200 years of private collecting

More than one hundred original pieces tell the story of private Catalan collectors of art from Ancient Egypt.

Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum, whose legacy is the result of 200 years of collecting, is hosting the exhibition 'Passion for Pharaonic Egypt' to celebrate its bicentenary. The exhibition includes works from fifty private collectors, a number of museums and some of the most important antique dealers and auction houses in the world. Rodolfo Valentino, Terenci Moix, Lord Carnavon and Winston Churchill had a close relationship with some of the pieces that are on display. Thanks to this exhibition we will also find out the reasons why so many people felt such as passion for ancient Egypt, with a special focus on Jordi Clos, the founder of the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona.

You can visit the exhibition until 31 December. All the works exhibited are part of the museum's permanent collection.

Admission to the museum costs €12 and tickets are available at the following link.
