‘Architecture and Criticism’

Insights into the development of 20th century architecture in Barcelona

A new exhibition at La Virreina explores the work of the architect Ignasi de Solà-Morales.

Ignasi de Solà-Morales was something of a model to be followed in the architectural field In Catalonia thanks to the precise balance he achieved between his professional practice, his critical production and his impact in the public sphere. He exemplified some of the most significant features of a certain architectural tradition that is closely linked to Barcelona, characterised by the fact that it brought together ideas about culture, heritage and the city within a single theoretical corpus. A new exhibition at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge titled ‘Architecture and Criticism’ features an extensive selection of objects from the architect’s personal archives, including  working documents, notes and lectures, dialogues and projects. The material provides an insight into the development of architecture in Catalonia over the last three decades of the 20th century.

The exhibition 'Architecture and Criticism' can be seen from 20 February to 12 May at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge.

Admission to the exhibition is free of charge. Additional information is available at the following link.
