An exhibition entitled “Picasso/Dalí. Dalí/Picasso” explores for the firs time the relationship between the two artists

The exhibition, which can be seen in the Museu Picasso from the 20th of March to the 28th of June, includes a total of 78 pieces, some of which have rarely been seen in Europe

From the 20th of March to the 28th of June, the Museu Picasso, in Barcelona, is hosting an exhibition entitled Picasso/Dalí. Dalí/Picasso, jointly organised by The Dalí Museum of St. Petersburg, which has its head offices in Florida, USA, and with the collaboration of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation in Figueras. The exhibition is the first to explore the relationship between the two artists in one of the most decisive moments of the history of art in the 20th century.

Picasso/Dalí. Dalí/Picasso presents a total of 78 works, including paintings, sketches, collages, sculptures and etchings, as well as a selection of 33 documents that includes correspondence sent by Picasso to Gala and Dalí. The exhibition is structured is a manner that focusses exclusively on the moments in which the two artists were most closely related and affords a variety of perspectives from which to analyse previously unknown aspects of their work.

The exhibition also includes, for probably the first time in Europe since the 1930s, the Dalí piece Desecration of the Host as well as other Dalí pieces such as Female nude and Bathers of Es Llaner. With regard to the Picasso pieces, highlights include Still Life with Antique Bust, Bathers, Group of Female Nudes, Still Life in Front of a Window, Saint Raphaël and Seated Woman.

The exhibition is accompanied by a series of parallel activities, the first of which will take place on opening day, the 20th of March, a consist of a round-table discussion entitled Picasso/Dalí. Dalí/Picasso: convergences. There will also be guided tours on Saturday evenings and a Club de Lectura (Reader’s Club) session on the 9th of April.
