An exhibition dedicated to the world of puppetry in Arts Santa Monica

"Figures of splitting", which can be free from October 8 to January 10, 2016, explores human representations from synthetic similes

The world of puppetry, object theater, set design mechanical and visual elements form the cosmogony of Figures del desdoblament: Titelles, màquines i filsthe new exhibition and recommended organized by Arts Santa Monica.

The puppet as a figure representing desires, struggles and inner realities of the human, is understood here in a very broad sense: from realistic representation made with wood to the conceptual challenges of robot's synthetic materials. Many of the pieces on the exhibition come from active creators, individual artists, companies and associations.

Figures del desdoblament occupies two floors of the Arts Santa Monica: on the first floor we have the 7 gates of otherness, a thematic tour of seven spaces governed by the idea of figurative unfolding. On the second floor we find The puppet pantry, a display of the various areas, and specific techniques of puppetry.

Figures del desdoblament is part of the festival IF Barcelona - Puppets, machines and wires, a powerful and annual operation. This year stands on three bases: the exhibition,  the programmed shows and scenic devices for adults and for all ages, and a line of research and development.

To inaugurate the exhibition on October 8 the centre throws an inaugural show, with free entry and limited capacity in order of arrival. This is a lecture-show by Joan Baixas, and entitled Oh la la! the marionette. This session has been specifically created to open the IF Barcelona Festival and the exhibition; here the puppet ponders about the path of the puppeteer, the relationship with other arts, the travel and adventure, and the desire of the split.
