An evening devoted to the Catalan modernist artist Lluïsa Vidal

The event, on 3 December, is organised by the Catalan National Museum of Art

Since it opened on 22 September, the exhibition Lluïsa Vidal. Modernisme Painter has been in residence at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC). Though undoubtedly a talented artist, Vidal is a little-known name from that era and the museum has organised a number of parallel events and activities designed to allow the public to get to know her better. Among them, scheduled for 3 December, is this  Lluïsa Vidal Evening.

Admission to the exhibition will be free from 3pm and guided visits will take place from 6pm to 7pm. Once these have finished, there will be a screening of the film Martin Provost Séraphine, which tells the story of the life of Séraphine de Senlis, a French painter from the second half of the 19th century who was a shepherdess and a housemaid whose artistic talent was discovered by a German art dealer. The screening will take place in the Sala Oval.

Lluïsa Vidal (1876-1918) was especially prolific in the field of the portrait, though she also painted outdoor scenes, capturing images of popular feasts, village dances, streets and beaches. She also produced genre paintings that reflected women’s daily lives. The exhibition on her at MNAC can be visited until 15 January.
