Enter the virtual world of Roman-era Barcelona in “Bàrcino 3D”
On the 30th of March, directors Carme Miró and Marc Hernández Güell will reveal the ideas behind the iPad app that allows users to stroll around Barcelona as it was in Roman times
On the 30th of March at 7 pm in the Apple Store on the Passeig de Gràcia, the directors of the iPad app Bàrcino 3D, Carme Miró and Marc Hernández Güell of the Barcelona Culture Institute (ICUB), will explain their project and discuss its functionality with those present.
Designed for the moment solely for iPad, Bàrcino 3D allows the user to stroll around Roman-era Barcelona, taking in all the relevant architectural and cultural details in a unique virtual tour that combines scientific rigour, culture and entertainment via two core concepts. On the one hand, through exploration of the territory, users can discover what our ancestors lives were like and what their customs were, and, on the other, through investigation, learn about the historical events that led to the foundation of the city. With regard to the latter, the app includes both a section where users can consult the history of the city and a glossary of Latin terms.
Those who wish to attend the presentation of Bàrcino 3D are required to register here. The app forms part of the programme Pla Bàrcino, the objective of which is to acquaint the general public with the city’s archaeological heritage.
