Enderrock magazine reveals the 2014 prize winners selected by popular vote

Els Catarres emerge as the biggest winners with five awards

Enderrock magazine has published the list of 2014 prize winners selected by readers in the Group and Solo Artist categories. The prizes will be presented in the Teatre Musical, Girona, on the 13th of March as part of the Catalan Music Awards gala.

Readers have opted to award a total of five prizes to the band from Igualada, Els Catarres, including Best Artist 2013, Best Pop-Rock Album and Cover for Postals and Best Song and Catalan Lyric for “Vull estar amb tu”. Readers have also awarded prizes for Best Live Performance and Best New Band to Pau Codina in the classical music category and Gemma Abrié and Vincens Martín Dream Big Band in the jazz category.

El Petit de Cal Eril (Joan Pons) will be taking home two further awards from Girona as both readers and journalists have coincided in awarding the top prize in the singer-songwriter category to La figura del buit. Other artists to receive special mention by readers include Ebri Knight, Quico el Célio, El Noi i el Mut de Ferreries, Miquel Abras and Cesk Freixas, Oques Grasses, David Pastor, Bongo Botrako, David Alegret and Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny.

The Premis Enderrock (Enderrock Awards) have been awarded since the creation of the magazine in 1993. Over a period of 15 years the awards ceremony took place in the Sala Bikini, in Barcelona, in a gala presentation attended by readers and representatives from the music sector. In a move designed to reflect territorial decentralisation, the gala has been celebrated in Girona since 2013.
