El Tricicle arrives at the Poliorama with “Bits”

The latest creative performance by the Catalan comic trio can be seen in the Barcelona theatre from the 16th of October onwards

Premiered in the Teatro Principal, Alicante, on the 24th of May, Bits is the eighth creation by the gestural theatre group El Tricicle, who now have 32 years’ experience and a constant run of successes behind them.

On this occasion the characteristic humorous, wordless gags which have defined the career trajectory of the group comprising Joan Gràcia, Paco Mir and Carles Sans, delve into the digital world to offer audiences more than an hour and a half of continuous comic hilarity. The minimum units of binary information that are the life-blood of computers are converted into a concatenation of the type of gags that characterise performances of El Tricicle.

Much as a mouse hops from link to link in a virtual context, the members of the group jump from setting to setting and sketch to sketch on the basis of their dynamism and natural humour. The performance, which for the first time includes some anecdotal dialog, includes tributes to Les Luthiers, Jacques Tati and themselves, for which they recuperate some of their own characters for the occasion.

What could possibly be their last staged creative work is, in their own words, “a coded digital ternary gag performance, a humoristic show full of bits which transmit gags at light speed in constant search of the maximum GPM (Gag per Minute) rate possible”.
