Susana Sheiman vs. Ella Fitzgerald

El Molino: a temple of jazz

The Jazz Night cycle is bringing jazz to this iconic night spot on Av. Paral·lel with performances by Susana Sheiman & Crazy Trio and the Old Cats

For many years El Molino was closely associated with music hall and cabaret, but following its reopening, it has become a more eclectic venue that is open to a variety of different styles. An example of this is Jazz Nights, a cycle that will transform the iconic dancehall on Av. Paral.lel into a temple of jazz for two evenings in March.

The first of these two concerts, which is scheduled for 7 March, features Susana Sheiman & Crazy Trio, while a week later, on 14 March, the veteran Catalan jazz formation the Old Cats will be taking to the stage. Susana Sheiman is currently one of the most personal voices in American music in Barcelona, and on this occasion she will be taking on the repertoire of Ella Fitzgerald accompanied by the Crazy Trio with Oriol Gonzàlez on drums, Jordi Giso on keyboards and Ariel Vigo on saxophone. The quintet the Old Cats, on the other hand, will travel even further back in time to the era of Dixieland. The band is made up of Josep Maria Farràs on trumpet, Òscar Font on trombone and vocals, Federico Mazzanti on piano, Artur Regada on double bass and vocals and Adrià Font on drums.
