In-Edit returns from the 23rd of October to the 2nd of November

The 12th edition of the Barcelona International Music Documentary Film Festival includes upwards of fifty films and a host of parallel activities

Beefeater In-Edit, one of Barcelona’s most popular festivals, returns for the twelfth year running from the 23rd of October to the 2nd of November. This year’s International Music Documentary Film Festival offers an extensive programme of upwards of fifty films and a multitude of parallel activities.

Highlights among this year’s documentary films include A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets, about British rock band Pulp, 20,000 Days on Earth, an existentially-tinged perspective on the life of Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave, and Super Duper Alice Cooper, an insight into one of the founding fathers of North American hard rock.

Other surprises include the likes of Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, in which oft-times actor Mike Myers documents the life of producer Shep Gordon, the manager of rock bands and stars the likes of Pink Floyd, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass and Alice Cooper himself, I Am Divine, a biography of the popular drag-queen who enjoyed years of popularity thanks mainly to his collaboration in the films of John Waters, and Spandau Ballet: Soul Boys of the Western World, which features members of the renowned pop group.

The programme also features a number of delicacies from these shores, including BCN, Sello Discográfico, in which the creative processes behind Barcelona’s electronic music scene are analysed using mobile phone and Super-8 recordings, The Jump! WTF Experience, which pays homage to Barcelona’s longest-running jam session What the Fuck!, which continues to draw crowds to the Jamboree every Monday, and This is the Unfinished Story of the Missing Leech, which documents the life of Maurici Ribera, one of the pillars of Catalan anti-folk.

The festival also offers a host of parallel activities, including In-Edit Fast Forward, a platform for meetings, debate and analysis of technological ideas and innovations designed to transform the audio-visual world, work sessions on distribution organised in collaboration with Catalan Films, the In-Edit Radio Show, a new radio show featuring live acts, and a master class on this year’s guest of honour, Frank Scheffer, which includes the screening of some of his better-known films including How To Get Out of the Cage, filmed in collaboration with John Cage.

The 12th edition of the Beefeater In-Edit film festival will take place from the 23rd of October to the 2nd of November in the cinemas Aribau Club and Aribau Multicines, with parallel activities in various locations throughout the city.
