Ecos, a bright tribute to Carles Buïgas

Coinciding with the International Year of Light, artist Tom Carr and his team have done a video installation inspired in the bright creator of the Magic Fountain from Montjuïc.

Until next May 3, we can see Ecos de Carles Buïgas, in the courtyard of the Museu Picasso. This is one of the acts of Novum, the festival of science, technology and innovation organized by BCN Innovació.

Directed by the artist Tom Carr, along with his team (TCteamwork), one of the museum’s courtyards hosts a video installation that honors the architect and lighting engineer. And it does in the International Year of Light and Light-based technologies.

Buïgas was the creator, among other projects, the Montjuïc’s famous light fountains, popularly known as the Magic Fountain. Precisely these fountains and light are the backbone of this project that reviews the work of architect from a contemporary aspect.

The projection fits each space, in this case the walls of a recess of one of the courtyards of this Gothic palace in the Montcada street that houses the museum, one of the most visited in the city. Y varies with each space and with the specific artists from the collective of Tom Carr responsible for carrying it out. On this occasion, Gaietà Mestieri, Sonia Michalopoulou and Anna Llimós-Vidal, who have decided to baptize their version of Ecos de Carles Buïgas with the name ‘Ombres’.

The initiative produced by the Art Museum from Cerdanyola (home city of Buïgas), is being exhibited throughout the country, with the help of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, during this International Year of Light -established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 20, 2013.
