The eclectic programme of the Mil·lenni Festival continues its course

Glen Hansard and Salif Keita are highlights of a programme that continues until the end of May

The appearance of Patti Smith last November inaugurated the 14th edition of the Mil·lenni Festival, a programme of almost 40 concerts which continues until the end of May. As with every year, the programme covers a wide range of styles and everyone can find a concert to suit their taste.

Among the highlights we can find internationally renowned artists such as Glen Hansard and Salif Keita.

Nearly six years ago. Glen Hansard rose to fame as the male half of The Swell Season, thanks, to a large extent, to the film Once. Hansard’s songs, accompanied by Marketa Irglova, were a worldwide success. On this occasion, the Irish musician will be presenting Rhythm and Repose in L’Auditori on the 15th of February.

Another well-known face in Barcelona is Salif Keita, recognised the world over for his emotionally-charged, optimistic songs. The legendary musician from Mali, founder of afro-pop, will be presenting his new record, Talé, on the 18th of February in El Apolo, in an attempt to restate his claim to the dance floors.

The list of international artists presenting their latest recordings in the festival does not end there, however. In the coming months we will be seeing Yo La Tengo (6/03), Low (13/05) and Ocean Colour Scene (23/04).

As proof of the excellent health of the current music scene in our country, Mil·lenni will also be presenting a great selection of offerings from the Catalan scene, including Els Amics de les Arts, Gossos, Refree, The New Raemon, Manos de Topo and, until the muses return, a provisional goodbye from Txarango.
