This Portuguese artist will be presenting her first new album in seven years
Her voice is the kind that gives you goosebumps. Although her name is associated with the fado, her vocal versatility allows her to embrace a wide range of different styles, though always with a powerful emotional charge. Dulce Pontes is now calling in at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música at 9.30pm on Friday 31 March to showcase Peregrinação, a double CD featuring 26 songs.
Dulce Pontes’ career spans three decades, beginning 25 years ago with the release of her debut album Lusitana. As a singer-songwriter she was a key figure in the renovation and rebirth of the fado. Since then she has toured extensively and recorded and appeared with figures like Ennio Morricone, Josep Carreras and Andrea Bocelli. She has explained that the gap between her latest two albums – Momentos was released back in 2009 – is down to a series of setbacks including a knee problems that prevented her from playing the piano.
Back to her old self again, she will be one stage at the Palau on 31 March. Additional information is available here.
