Doors of Barcelona, in Sala Ciutat

From the 16th of March to the 13th of April, a photographic tribute to one of the most forgotten architectural elements of the city’s façades

The exhibition Barcelona's Doors. Two photographic takes includes over two hundred photographs divided into two distinct photographic perspectives and can be seen in the Sala Ciutat until the 13th of April. Entry is free of charge. The exhibition contrasts a professional photographer’s perspective of inestimable value with a collective, more immediate citizen’s perspective compiled via the internet.

On the one hand there are 150 photos of the city’s doors by pioneering advertising art director Lluís Duran taken over a period of forty years, particularly in the Eixample district, and, on the other hand, 70 images by the Opengram competition finalists. Opengram is a competition that took place during the last edition of Open House BCN in which participants sent in almost 1000 interior or exterior photographs of particularly characteristic doors via Instagram.

The aim of the exhibition is to pay homage to the city’s architecture through an often underestimated feature that, according to Duran, should be appreciated and publicised, namely, its doors.
