‘Silvana’

'Silvana': the Docs Barcelona documentary of the month for January

The year 2019 will kick off with a film on an iconic and feisty Swedish rapper.

Twelve times a year, the people behind the Docs Barcelona documentary film festival select a film to be screened as the film of the month. The title chosen for January is 'Silvana', a documentary on the homonymous Swedish rapper.  The film traces her rise to fame from an underground figure to a rap icon famous for her uncompromising political stance against all forms of oppression and offers insights into her personal life, including her relationship with Swedish pop-artist Beatrice Eli and a crisis sparked by the pressures of having to live up to her public role as a ‘strong female’. As Silvana herself states, "there are no superheroes, only human beings."

The film will be screened at a number of different venues in Barcelona from 10 to 31 January, so check out the link below for specific times and places. Ticket prices also vary depending on the venue.
