On display – a selection from the modern art collection of the Museu Nacional

While its modern art rooms undergo remodelling, the museum has organised a temporary exhibition of selected masterpieces from the period in question

The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya has announced the opening of its remodelled modern art rooms for next September. However, from the 17th of June to the 31st of August, while this remodelling is being carried out, visitors will have the opportunity to view a selection of pieces thanks to a free exhibition that has been organised in a temporary space within the museum complex.

Pieces from the modern art collection, then, includes some of the period’s most relevant pieces, with artists the likes of Maria Fortuny, Antoni Gaudí, Pablo Picasso, Isidre Nonell, Ramon Casas and Salvador Dalí representing the best in Catalan modern art.

The temporary exhibition serves as a prelude to the presentation of the new modern art rooms in September, which will offer a complete and multidisciplinary perspective on modern art up to the 1950s and will include sections covering Modernism to the Civil War, the World Trade Fair of 1929 and art of the 1930s, in genres typical of the era in question, such as photography, poster art, film, architecture and decorative arts.

The exhibition may be seen in the temporary exhibition room of the Museu Nacional from the 17th of June to the 31st of August. Entry is free.
