“Días terrestres” (Earth days), in the 3 Punts gallery

The pieces by painter Jordi Prat, which are on display up until the 8th of February, evoke imaginary landscapes that question the viewer

Up until the 8th of February, the Galería 3 Punts, on calle Enric Granados, is hosting an exhibition by Barcelona painter Jordi Prat. The exhibition is entitled Dies terrestres and consists of a series of paintings in which the artist uses often imaginary and evocative images to conform an atmosphere of strangeness.

In Dies terrestres the artist takes familiar objects and landscapes only to bestow them with a new, more extensive and varied significance. According to the curator, Maria Montseny, the exhibition is “a series of postcards of the earth” in which time has stopped and “it appears that the entire human race has stepped out for a cup of coffee”.

Unknown or out-of-place objects, de-contextualised landscapes, familiar images that have been rendered irregular or anomalous, altered shades of colour... Prat’s painting is characterised by a creative freedom that questions the viewer. The titles do nothing to describe the paintings, but serve to complement them, the result being a suggestive surprise of indirect subtleties.
