Diada de la Rumba

The fifth edition takes place on the 17th of November, beginning in the morning in Gràcia and ending up in the Apolo

The Diada de la Rumba, a yearly celebration of the Catalan rumba, takes place next Sunday, the 17th of November. Following the celebrations in recent weeks in other municipalities such as Girona, Granollers and Vic, the event finally arrives in Barcelona for the fifth consecutive year.

As with previous years, the event is divided into two main blocks, one in the morning in the Gràcia district, the other in the evening in the Apolo. La Diada kicks off in the Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius at half past ten with assorted workshops, DJ sessions, an exhibition dedicated to the history of the Catalan rumba, merchandising stands and an audio-forum book presentation of Achilibook, Biogáfica de la Rumba en España 1861-1995 with the author, Txarly Brown.

During the evening there will be a festival concert in the Apolo on carrer Nou de la Rambla, a rumba marathon of more than three hours with guest artists such as Terratombats, Peret Reyes, Aimaras, Derrumband, Kavanak, Pulpito y sus Calamares, Revolución, Rumba Tarumba, Els Delai, La Banda Del Panda and Mezclatos Rumberos, among others. Entrance to the Apolo is free of charge but preference will be given to those who have collaborated with the Diada via the crowdfunding site Verkami.
