Design and creativity converge in FADfest
The 5th edition of the design festival will take place from the 29th of June to the 5th of July and focus on transversality and interaction among disciplines
Beginning on the 29th of June a new edition of FADfest will unite all branches of design under one roof. Industrial, graphic and interior design, visual communication, architecture, fashion, art and crafts will unite in an event designed to celebrate creative excellence with an extensive programme of events that includes awards ceremonies, conferences, debates, chats and other activities.
This year's edition focusses on the current trend in which the separation between disciplines is gradually disappearing, a trend that is emphasised via an exhibition entitled Fora de lloc (Out of Place), in which designers, artists and architects from around the world explore new ways of working, rethink their perspectives and overstep established boundaries. In addition, as with every year, there will also be an exhibition featuring the finalists and winners of the FAD Awards for Architecture, the Laus Awards for Graphic Design and Visual Communication and the MODAFAD Awards for Fashion.
The transversality of practises and disciplines is also one of the subjects to be covered in the inaugural conference, overseen by Tim Simpson and Sarah van Gameren of London studio Glithero. Other conferences will include that given by architect Oliver Thill dealing with low budgets and monumental architecture and the open conference day entitled Out of Place, which will feature architect Manuel Domínguez, artist Cecilia Jonsson, cultural activist Jaron Rowan and artist Di Mainstone.
Other activities will include an exploration of materials of the future in What's Next?, guided tours of the workshop open days Tallers Oberts Barcelona and a materials design 'Mater Brunch' session dedicated to flexibility and lightness.
The perfect opportunity, then, to explore all aspects of creativity and design on all levels and in all phases of development.
