The fifth edition of the dance festival, which brings together renowned choreographers and upcoming creators, can be seen up until the 28th of November
For the fifth year running the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera presents the dance festival Dansa Ara. Through collaboration with the Graner Centre and the Mercat de les Flores, four varied proposals have been selected in representation of the period of thriving creativity currently being experienced within the contemporary dance world in Catalonia.
All four performances combine physical dance with both technique and theatricality and the festival opened its doors on Wednesday the 6th in La Pedrera with a performance entitled Now-Here Man, by Andrés Corchero, a world-renowned Butoh dance artist and winner of the National Dance Award in 2003.
Wednesday the 13th will see the turn of Thomas Noone and Emilio Gutiérrez with Chuck & Bruce, in which the two dancers present a surprising, intense performance that fuses dance and theatre and ironizes on the subjects of age and masculinity.
The following Wednesday, the 20th, the double programme Minitura/Before we fall, by Rosa López Espinosa and María Campos Arroyo, provides the spectators with contrasting aspects of the two dancers in a performance suffused with complicity.
Dansa Ara finishes on Thursday the 28th with Solos Ara, a programme of debut creations by upcoming talents, including Laila Tafur with Mi Arma, which fuses Western and Flamenco dance, Eulàlia Bergada with Flying Pigs, a poetic representation relating to the life-giving properties of food and, finally, Judith Argomaniz and Jaiotz Osa with Hooked, a performance based on meticulously choreographed language.
