Documentaries from Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Occitania in the Free Cinema at the Library cycle

Four libraries in Barcelona are taking part in a film cycle that features titles such as 'Vida i mort d'un arquitecte' and 'Joana Biarnés (Una entre tots)'.

The winter version of the Free Cinema on the Beach cycle, known as Free Cinema at the Library, will start its third edition at Biblioteca Francesca Bonnemaison on 27 February with a screening of the documentary film Priorat by David Fernández de Castro. This is one of the four libraries that will take part in the project, the other three being Sant Gervasi - Joan Maragall, Guinardó - Mercè Rodoreda and Vapor Vell.

The most important new development for 2019 is the creation of a network of libraries in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion which will allow for an exchange of documentaries among the participating territories. That means that we will also have the chance to see documentaries from the Balearic Islands like Joana Biarnés (Una entre tots) on Spain’s first photojournalist and Miguel Eek’s Vida i mort d'un arquitecte, Espies en l'arena. Objectiu Espanya by Pablo Azorín and Marta Hierro which tells the story of a group of exiled Spanish Republicans at the service of American military espionage during the Second World War. The documentary from Occitania is  Paysans de la mer by Bernard Arnauld, a film about the hard working lives of fishermen.

Free Cinema at the Library, which will run until 9 April, features a total of twelve screening, all of which are free of charge and are scheduled to begin at 7 pm. The cycle is organized by Mago Production in coordination with APAIB (Association of Audiovisual Producers of the Balearic Islands) and Godo Films.
