Curt Ficcions 2013 kicks off

Dance is the central theme of the sixteenth edition of the short film festival hosted by the Institut Francès and the Biblioteca Jaume Fuster

On this occasion, the sixteenth edition of the Barcelona Festival Curt Ficcions (Short Fictions) will be focussing on the world of dance, a leit motif which will revolve around the three programmes that make up the competition: Grand Plié, Fouetté and Rond d’Jambe.  Most of this year’s programme will take place between the 3rd and 9th of May in the auditorium of the Institut Francès and in the Biblioteca Jaume Fuster

Aside from the principle sections, however, the festival programme includes a number of parallel activities, among which there is a selection of short films presented at the Solé Tura Awards for films dealing with Alzheimer and other neurodegenerative disorders, a selection of short documentary films made in Spain, and the projection of the three winning films from last year’s festival in the Filmoteca de Catalunya. In addition there will be a special showing of short films made over three days by students of cinema and audio-visual media from the faculties and schools of Barcelona who took part in the competition BCN en curt: Roda en 72h (short films made in under 3 days).

One of the principle novelties of the 2013 edition of Curt Ficcions is that, for the first time, the prizes will be awarded purely on the votes cast by the audiences. Furthermore, in an initiative designed to promote consideration of the value of culture and the role played by audiences, the price paid for the tickets will be decided by the spectators on leaving the theatre.
