Current Iranian cinema in Girona Cinemas

The cycle "Last Iranian cinema" exhibits a selection of 10 titles of the Middle East until February 6, 2016

The new generation of Iranian filmmakers are making the emergence of an indigenous film production, in which you can appreciate the incorporation of universal narrative styles, as well as technical and formal innovations, all within the apparent progress of a film that has never stopped experimenting with the audiovisual language.

The ten films that make up the cycle El último cine iraní have been produced between 2014 and 2015, and focus their stories on current domestic disputes, which can be exported to any latitude.

A Tale of Love, the piece that closes the cycle, unanimously won the awards for best film and best screenplay at the third edition of Casa Asia Film Week (2015), in the Panorama section.

In this selection of titles there are films like The promise by Mohammad Ali Talebi, Night Shift by Niki Karimi, The Long Farewell by Farzad Motameni, and the mentioned A Tale of Love by Ahmad Ramezan Zadeh, among others. Thanks to this exhibition it is possible to assess the potential of this new Iranian cinema, which transcends local boundaries to address issues that become universal from the individual experiences of its protagonists.
