A cultural tour through the history of Raval

"Brushstrokes of Raval's history" travels to thousands of years in the past, and takes us to exciting places that will make us understand better the area and its cultural heritage

The initiative of this itinerary is to present the Raval in depth, with the idea that the visitor may discover monuments, spaces and specific episodes, and at the end of the line will be able to recreate the history of Raval and its people.

The guided tour Pinzellades d'història del Raval proposes a journey to more than two millennia of history of the neighborhood. From its origins as a gateway to the city, joining the medieval city as large growing space, its intramural function for welfare throughout the modern age, and the multiplication of monastic spaces in its streets, the conversion of the neighborhood, the industrialization from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and the advent of the famous Barrio Chino in the early twentieth century.

The tour reaches to the present day, based on the transformation of the neighborhood and the contrasts that offers today, with a mix of culture centers, leisure areas and a network of streets that still hide the original essence of the area.

On this route, visitors learn about places like the Monastery of Sant Pau del Camp (founded in the tenth century), the former textile factory Can Ricart, the Chapel of St. Lazarus or the grounds of the former Hospital of the Holy Cross.

All routes require registration, have limited availability, and are accessible to the disabled and prams. For the proper functioning of the route up to two seats are reserved with these characteristics.
