BCNegra is back for another edition

The 14th edition of BCNegra, Barcelona’s annual crime fiction festival, is now underway and features over 40 activities and more than 80 authors from the UK, France, Italy, Senegal, Argentina and Morocco, among other countries. The festival, which is curated by  Carlos Zanón, is counted among the most important crime fiction events in Europe. Among the authors attending this year are Claudia Piñeiro, John Banville, Leila Slimani, Ken Bugul, Ferran Torrent, David Peace and Yasmina Khadra. The main theme of this year’s edition is ports – a classic setting for this type of fiction, and the character, book and author chosen as the focus of the festival are Lisbeth Salander, Total Khéops by Jean-Claude Izzo and Chester Himes, respectively.

The BCNegra Festival Will take place from 24 January to 3 February in different venues in Barcelona, including libraries, museums and civic centres. The 11 days of the festival will be filled with debates, books, films, plays, poetry, music and great stories.

Finally, this year’s edition sees a tribute to the bookseller and former curator Paco Camarasa and will feature a number of events dedicated to his memory.
