“Creativity+tradition”, in the Arts Santa Mònica

This first exhibition in the trilogy “Creative Catalonia”, three exhibitions designed to present local creativity over the past 15 years, can be seen up until the 28th of September

The Arts Santa Mònica kicks off the trilogy Creative Catalonia, a series of three exhibitions designed to present local creativity over the past fifteen years, from 1999 to 2014, a period of technological revolutions, mobility and globalisation. While the selection of creators is not intended to be exclusive, the proposals are, to some extent, restricted to contemporary creative tendencies and original ideas.

The first exhibition is entitled Creativity+tradition, and presents artists from a variety of disciplines who have succeeded in reinventing a series of traditional ideas. This exploration of contemporary cultural production includes pieces such as Laura Meseguer’s typographies, the handicrafts of Apparatu, the high mountain architecture of Josep Bunyesc, a theatre piece by Jordi Galceran, the boiled clay pieces of Martín de Azúa, a reworking of the cattail-woven chair by Guillem Ferran, the Christmas lighting of the Emiliana Design Studio and the video game Invizimals, by Novarama, the most-exported product in the history of Catalonia. In general then, the objective is to present an overall perspective of the city’s creative talent.

Creativity+tradition will be followed by Creativity+perception and Creativity+research. The first of these can be seen until the 28th of September in the Arts Santa Mònica. Entry to the three exhibitions is free and more information can be found here.
