A total of 60 projects, 15 of which were presented in the Disseny Hub Barcelona, will receive financial aid. Each of these projects will receive grants of up to € 150,000

The CreatiFI project has earmarked up to 4.8 million euros to help finance innovative projects that apply Future Internet technologies to the creativity industry.

A total of 60 projects, 15 of which were presented in the Disseny Hub Barcelona, will receive financial aid. Each of these projects may receive grants of up to € 150,000. The first phase of the initiative began on the 1st of October, when participants were invited to present their ideas. The closing date for entries is the 30th of November.

On the 14th of October, beginning at 4 pm, the Disseny Hub Barcelona will host both the official presentation of the CreatiFI project and the celebration of its first Inspirational Match-Making Event.

CreatiFI is a European project and part of the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership Programme. The project offers professionals from the creativity industry the opportunity to develop projects that use the technologies made available to them via the European programme. CreatiFI is an accelerator project with four European hubs (Barcelona, Trento, Helsinki and Brussels) that has earmarked 4.8 million euros in financing to be distributed among the most innovative projects employing Future Internet technologies.

The Inspirational Match-Making Event will provide an opportunity for Barcelona’s creative talent to share ideas in the areas of entrepreneurship, startups, design, marketing, programming and software development, audio-visual and musical production, publishing, gaming and video game expertise, artists and the creative and ITC sector in general. Stimulus will also be provided for the creation of work teams to prepare projects for this, the first phase of the initiative.

The grants will be awarded in stages and will depend on the quality and solvency of the initiatives presented. The first phase will consist of € 50,000 plus a series of technological and business support services which will be earmarked for the most promising 60 European initiatives, 15 of which will be selected by an international jury in the Disseny Hub Barcelona. The remaining € 100,000 will be awarded during the second phase, which will be open to new proposals and will attempt to find a market opening for the products and services offered by each project. Financing will take the form of an award and, as such, will not require administrative justification.

The European Future Internet Public-Private Partnership Programme consists of 16 accelerator projects with € 80 million earmarked for the promotion of projects that use FI-WARE and open source technologies in an attempt to provide a boost for European industry. In addition to CreatiFI, 6 other accelerator projects exist that may be of interest to the creativity industry.

The Creativity and Innovation Directorate of the Barcelona Culture Institute (ICUB) is one of the associates of the CreatiFI project, along with IMinds, I2Cat, Create-limpio, Forum Virium, EBN, Trentino, Svillupo and ENoll.
