Contemporary German cinema at the Filmoteca

A new edition of the annual review of the latest German productions in collaboration with the Goethe Institute.

The contemporary German film cycle is one of the longest-standing and popular events of the year at Barcelona’s Filmoteca de Catalunya. For the last six years, the Goethe Institute has collaborated in order to bring to our screens some of the finest films on the current German scene. This year’s edition is set to run from 19 to 31 October and includes a total of ten titles.

The first film to be screened is ‘Die Blumen von gestern’, a holocaust comedy film from 2016 directed by Danny and Sigrid Kraus. The directors will be presenting the film in person at the Filmoteca on 19 October. This film will be followed by ‘Die Akte General’ (Stephan Wagner), ‘Die Welt der Wunderlichs’ (Dani Levy, who will also be present at the cycle), ‘Casting’ (Nicola Wackerbarth), a documentary by Andres Veiel on the contemporary attist Joseph Beuys, and ‘24 Wochen’ (Anne Zohra Berrached), among others.

You’ll find additional information at the Filmoteca website.
