Companies taking part at CreatiFI develop their elevator pitches

The ones responsible for the projects tested their speeches, to be given in August in front of prospective investors.

Companies taking part in the CreatiFI project in Barcelona had the opportunity to attend a workshop where they could test their ‘elevator pitch’. Partakers presented their project to a fictional jury in order to improve their speech, which will take place in August in front of prospective investors.

Project CreatiFI, co-led by Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació de l’Institut de Cultura de Barcelona along with other european institutions, is a project in the programme Future Internet Public Private Partnership -FI-PPP-, which gives the chances to professional workers in the creative industry and the IT sector to develop new projects embedding Future Internet Technologies -open-source license FI-Ware. Its aim is providing creators with important financial resources so they can innovate in their own professional fields via these technologies. CreatiFI donates nearly 5 million euros to creative communities from the four regions taking part -Brussels, Trento, Helsinki and Catalunya- to share between the most innovative projects. A total of 60 projects are financed, 15 of whom are from Barcelona.

An ‘elevator pitch’ is a speech which shortly summarizes a business idea or project to people who might be interested. The idea is to be able to state the basics of the project in one minute, the time an elevator ride lasts, in case you bumped into a prospective investor there. The projects taking part in the workshop were Stoormflow, Artica-Visualino, Huballin, Funkywhale games, Protolight, Tan Tan, Multidub, Unique Visitors and Geogaming.

The event consisted in a lecture on the ‘elevator pitch’ methodology, speech preparation, and presentations in front of the fictional jury. Afterwards, coaches gave advice to participants thinking of the speeches they are to give in front of prospective investors this month. Finally, the event concluded with some networking time between the companies and the jury.
