Coffee with Händel at Barcelona’s Music Museum

These small-format concerts will take place one a month in the Museum’s Sala de Teclats.

Barcelona’s Music Museum first opened it doors to the public in March 2007 as part of a complex together with the Auditori concert hall. Now, together with a completely renovated presentation of the collection of musical instruments and documents it has on display, the museum is scheduling a series of parallel activities. Among these, the Coffee with... cycle is a stand-out, featuring an annual cycle of concerts running from January to May with the dual aim of promoting the work of young musicians and teachers at the ESMUC music school, and drawing attention to the museum’s activities through live events. The cycle includes works from the Baroque period and the greatest composers of ancient music. Corelli, the Bach family and the great Baroque orchestras have been the focus of previous editions.

The 2016 season will be dominated by Georg Friedrich Händel (Halle, 1685 - London, 1759), an English composer of German origin who is considered to be one of the great masters of Baroque music and one of the first to adapt his music to public tastes. The concerts will take place one Saturday every month at 12 noon. The subjects and dates of the concerts are the following:

19 March: Religious Music
16 April: Opera: Orlando
14 May: Orchestral Music

Publication date: Thursday, 17 March 2016
