The Circuit Festival is back

Barcelona’s gay community is set to celebrate its annual festival until 14 August

The 2nd of August saw the start of the Circuit Festival, the world’s biggest gay-themed festival, which annually turns Barcelona into the LGBT capital of the globe. As usual, the festival programme includes the best parties and DJ sessions at international level, as well as a large variety of daytime activities of all types, which have culture as their main focus and which make up the more activist and protest orientated side of the festival.

Like every year, the main activity of the week will be the Water Park party, which will once again take place at Illa Fantasia in Vilassar de Dalt all day on 9 August. The fun will see the presence of more than 50 dancers and, from 10pm on, the action will move to the park’s discotheque. Transport is laid on, with a continuous bus service running from Plaça Catalunya. Another high point of the festival will be the Main Party, which is scheduled to take place from 11pm on Saturday 13th at the Hospitalet Nord Sports Complex.

Among the parallel activities, standout events include the film forum at Cinemes Texas on Thursday 11th at 8pm with the screening of the short film Victor, followed by a debate on the challenges, alliances and strategies of the transsexual, lesbian and feminist communities. Also, during the festival guided visits to the city will take place, allowing visitors to explore local shops and restaurants.
