Chick Corea returns to the Auditori with an electric and renewed repertoire
The masterful jazz musician presents his new book, "The Vigil", accompanied by young musicians, on October 22 within the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona
The pianist and jazz composer Chick Corea is beyond qualifications as expert or veteran: at 74 years, this virtuos instrumentalist has become one of the great masters of jazz fusion, a genre that he has been teaching through countless lessons in scenarios for more than four decades.
After playing with geniuses like Miles Davis or the formidable members of his band Return To Forever, Chick Corea still maintains intact his ability for re-invention, as evidenced by his recent album, "The Vigil", an exciting electric exciting treament.
For his concert at L'Auditori within the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona, the American musician is accompanied by a new band of young Latino influences (Tim Garland, sax, flute and bass clarinet; Carlitos del Puerto, double bass; Marcus Gilmore, drums), in a repertoire where Korea proposes new music releases, arranges classical compositions and experiments with the same enthusiasm of his beginnings.
