The centenary year of the Institut del Teatre

The inauguration of the exhibition "Els primers 100 anys" (The first hundred years) will take place on the 8th of April

Founded in 1913 by Adrià Gual, the Institut del Teatre celebrates its hundred year existence this year; reason aplenty for initiating a series of commemorative activities. Following the presentation of the anniversary last February, which included the participation of dozens of illustrious ex-students, a new exhibition titled Els primers 100 anys will open on the 8th of April. Commissioned by Guillem-Jordi Graells, the exhibition explains the training undertaken by those who go on to create specialities and the origins of the various qualifications.

From the 17th of April to the 5th of May, the young dance company of the Institut, IT Dansa, will be celebrating its 15 years of existence by organising a series of events linked to the anniversary with the collaboration of the Mercat de les Flores. The events include the gala EX_IT, a meeting of former IT Dansa members who are now scattered throughout the globe.

The Institut del Teatre will also take part in the initiative of the International Council Of Museums (ICOM) to celebrate European Museum Night on the 18th of April with a prolonged open day in the Museu de les Arts Escèniques and a succession of creative surprises programmed in the most unlikely locations.
