The CaixaForum presents the films of Méliès accompanied by live music

Mamut Cinema will provide accompaniment to some of the director’s films with contemporary music

On the 7th of April, as part of the exhibition La màgia del cinema (The magic of cinema), dedicated to the figure of Georges Méliès, the CaixaForum presents a projection of some of his most emblematic films to the accompaniment of live music. The music will be performed by Mamut Cinema, specialists in this type of concert. Among other directors, the band has previously provided the soundtrack for films by Segundo de Chomón and Alexander Medvedkin.

On this occasion, however, the surprise is that the Méliès classics, which defined a before and after in the use of cinematic visual trickery, will be interpreted from a more up-to-date perspective and Mamut Cinema (Jordi Herreros, Jordi Marfà, David Parras and Daniel Pitarch) will include elements of pop and contemporary music in their accompaniment.

An original, unique performance, then, which will help to complete CaixaForum’s homage to Georges Méliès, one of the great pioneers of the origins of the seventh art.
