Buena Vista Social Club to appear in the Guitar BCN Festival
The Auditorium at the Fòrum complex is to host the band’s farewell concert in Barcelona
The most famous orchestra en the Antilles is set to play in the Guitar BCN festival together with some of its most prestigious members, including Omara Portuondo, Manuel Guajiro Mirabal, Jesús Aguaje Ramos and Barbarito Torres, and this concert is very special, being part of their farewell tour around the world on which they are saying thank you to their fans for so many years of support.
Fifteen years have passed since Wim Wender’s film served to rediscover the talents of musical stars like Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer and Elíades Ochoa, icons who had fallen into oblivion after the revolution. That film was key to the success that Orquesta Buenavista Social Club has enjoyed since then. The band has travelled the world and taken Cuban music all over the planet, even to the White House, where they played for President Obama in 2015.
Fans who wish to say farewell to the band in Barcelona can do so on Monday 4th April at 9pm.
