Botanic itinerary around the thematic gardens of Montjuïc

Today, there are more than twenty parks and gardens at Montjuïc that show, from their diversity, a part of the urban and gardening history of Barcelona. The hill’s location, relief and geomorphology, as well as the different interventions that historically have been done there, have originated the huge variety of habitats that today are home of a big diversity of fauna and flora. 

There is a considerable variety of plants, both indigenous and coming from other world bi geographic areas, which make green spaces with different levels of intervention, from fields and small woods to very special gardens. The magnificent ensemble of spaces at the hill is, together with Collserola mountain range, one of the big green lungs of the town.

The botanic itinerary around Montjuïc propose a route through its main gardens. It uses the existent green corridors to discover to the visitor its ecologic, landscape, geologic, architectonic, historic and cultural values. 

The six routes of the itinerary —Porta de Montjuïc, Hortes de Sant Bertran and Forestier’s stairs, Mossèn Costa i Llobera Garden, Miramar Garden, Joan Brossa Garden and Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer Garden— allow the visitor to live a rich and interesting experience. At the end of the itinerary, the visitors will receive information to make optional visits to other green spaces.
