Boira, Havaneras in the Castell de Montjuïc

The concert on the 6th of August is part of the series "Els Plenilunis al Castell de Montjuïc"

A midsummer’s night in peaceful surroundings cooled by the sea breeze, good company  and, one would think it couldn’t get any better, but it can, a recital of Havaneras, songs which are the very essence of summer.  This is precisely what the series Els plenilunis al Castell de Montjuïc (Full Moon Nights in the Montjuïc Castle) proposes for the 6th of August with a performance by Boira.

While the band’s home town, Lleida, may not give the impression of being a seafaring town, the group have not only spread the tradition of the Havanera along the western lands of Catalonia, they have also displayed their talents in many countries throughout the world, including Cuba, France, Italy and Luxemburg.

When one speaks of Havaneras, there is one date that sticks out, the Cantada de Calella, on the first Saturday in July. Boira have performed at this event on more than one occasion, playing to crowds of tens of thousands, a very good reason for predicting that the evening of the 6th of August in the Montjuïc mountain will be a momentous success.
