Barcelona’s crime fiction encounter will take place from the 29th of January to the 7th of February in various locations throughout the city
For yet another year, making a total of ten, BCNegra will be offering a series of events focussing on crime fiction in various locations around the city. This tenth edition, which was presented today in a press conference, will take place from the 29th of January to the 7th of February in an effort to offer fans of the genre an opportunity to meet their favourite authors through a series of conferences, round table discussions and other diverse activities. The objective of the festival is to continue promoting a genre that occupies a privileged place in our country’s best seller lists in both Catalan and Spanish languages.
With regard to the round table discussions, of particular note will be those sessions dedicated to, for example, the role of Barcelona as the capital of the European crime novel, the evolution of crime fiction characters, criminal legends, graphic novels, psychological terror and corruption in the world of sports. For their part, renowned authors the likes of Anne Perry, Sue Grafton and Philipp Kerr have stated their intention to attend the festival and converse with the attendees.
Among other art forms, the festival will also offer a platform for music, in the form of a concert by the Big Blues Band with Dani Nel·lo, for film, with a series of screenings in the Filmoteca, and for exhibitions, with an expo entitled Full of colour in grey times – the 40s, 50s and 60s in the Jaume Fuster Library. BCNegra 2015 will also be hosting the Pepe Carvalho Award ceremony in the Saló de Cent, in the Barcelona City Council building – an award that offers recognition to the careers of local and international crime fiction authors and which, this year, will be presented to Alicia Giménez Bartlett, creator of Inspector Petra Delicado and his inseparable sidekick, Fermín Garzón.
In addition to the venues already mentioned, this edition of BCNegra will also be making its presence known in the Blanquerna Faculty for International Communication and Relations, the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, The Liceu Conservatory, the Negra y Criminal bookshop and numerous libraries throughout the city.
