Barcelona Jazz Festival

The Barcelona Jazz Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary

One of the world’s leading jazz festivals is back with an impeccable line up.

The Barcelona Jazz Festival has been bringing the best in world jazz to the city for fifty years. This year’s edition once again features some of the heavyweights of the contemporary jazz scene, as well as some up and coming talents on a bill that includes Brad Mehldau, Tribalistas, Chucho Valdés, Andrea Motis, Ignasi Terraza, Berh Hart, Dave Liebman and Marc Copland among many others. The festival also stages free concerts, master classes led by authentic eminences, conferences, meetings with artists and plenty of other events that are geared to get you to enjoy good music and share your passion for jazz. Among the most outstanding free activities there are two exhibitions, one at the Palau de la Música and the other at Espai Mercè Sala, concerts at civic centres by groups like the Balkan Paradise Orchestra and Flamingo Tours, and the self-explanatory Jazz & Food on 29 September.

The Barcelona Jazz Festival has an extensive programme and actually kicked off back in April and is set to run to 21 December, though the main action is starting now with a concert by Chucho Valdés on 26 October.
