Barcelona's first Diversity Festival at Montjuïc

This activity has been cancelled. Over three days of the summer solstice, the pavilions at the Fira de Barcelona trade fair complex will host the city's first world cultures get-together

Barcelona is a city that is open to the world, with space for a diversity of cultures, adn which, like in the recent Forum of Cultures, has always tried to build bridges of dialogue, understanding and participation between peoples. The latest development in line with this is a three-day celebration of cultural diversity that will take place from 23 to 25 June in the pavilions of Fira de Barcelona in the shape of the Festival of Cultures and Diversity, which is promoted by the Wontanara Association. The festival features the participation of 160 countries, who will be sharing their diverse forms of entertainment gastronomy, crafts and music.

For example, on June 23, coinciding with the solstice, we will have the chance to discover how this unique moment is celebrated in other cultures. The Hymn of the Nations by Giuseppe Verdi will also be perfromed in collaboration with the Russian World of Art Foundation and the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, and there will be a fireworks display which we will see the premiere of a new musical Pep Sala. The festival will also feature concerts by perfromers like Moya Kalongo, Staple’s Bar and Capoeira Banzol, as well as drama performances, a children's area and an extensive programme of recent films from around the world.

All in all, this promises to be a festival celebrating the wealth of the world's cultures. Additional information can be found on the festival website.
