The “Barcelona Pensa” is back from 16th to 21st of November

Second edition of the city’s philosophy festival

The good reception of the first Barcelona Pensa has encouraged the organizers to launch a second edition of the philosophy festival, which this year will be held in various venues around the city between the 16th and 21st of November.

It’s an event driven by the Department of Philosophy from the University of Barcelona which aims to stimulate citizens’ critical thinking. "It’s about providing the citizens with criteria and reflections that allow us to think about our decisions in ethical, political and aesthetical fields, interacting and learning together from different cultural and social areas of the city," they say.

The success achieved in 2014, when more than 2,000 people attended the programmed events, has pushed those responsible to maintain and reconfirm the main challenge of last year: to bring philosophy to the public. Make it understandable without trivializing it, because there’s philosophy in every day actions and decisions, and at the same time, creating a space for the academics and experts.

Therefore, the latest edition of the festival received a grant of 2,696 euros, for investments in information and communication technology (ICT) from the Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació de l’Institut de Cultura de Barcelonabecause the internet and social networks play a leading role in the promotion and continued existence of Pensa.
