From the 20th to the 22nd of March the Design Museum and the European Design Institute will host the festival, designed to present the challenges and triumphs of the digital world’s creative ecosystem
The power of internet is redefining our operating parameters, our priorities and the way in which we approach things. The virtual world is acquiring a primordial position in our day-to-day lives and in almost all the areas in which we operate. With this as a backdrop, the Internet Age Media Weekend is designed to champion the internet as a way of life.
The event is designed as a means of connecting the creative and digital ecosystems that comprise technology, design, fashion, visual arts and music, and to debate and analyse the future that is appearing before our very eyes. In other words, over a period of three days, to generate a network of creativity that spans multi-disciplinary fields including influential digital publications, leading agencies, brand names, creative educational institutions and advertising companies.
The objective of the festival, then, is to generate this network as a means of discussing the future of internet: the challenges that will face us over the coming decades, how to maintain a de-centralised, sustainable internet, how to benefit emerging talents by the use of virtual worlds, etc. All questions which will be approached by means of workshops, master classes, discussions and show cases for young talents.
The inaugural session will be headed by Liya Safina, a member of Strelka, a Russian institution that promotes positive change through education. Other speakers and presenters include the director of the digital editorial, Taschen, the founder of the British creative community The Dots, Jeremy Abbet, a member of the Google team, the founder of Booooooom, and the general managers of Vice Spain and the website It’s Nice That.
