The Barcelona Grec Festival releases its full programme

The festival sets out on its journey and presents 102 theatre, music, dance and circus shows, with 27 world premières and 32 international productions.

The 41st Barcelona Grec Festival, the city's leading event for theatre, dance, music and circus, is setting out on its journey.

Cesc Casadesús, the festival director, has presented the 102 shows in the 2017 programme, structured around two principal themes: Grec Montjuïc, which brings an important part of the most international festival to the mountain, and Grec City, a reflection of local creativity.

This year, dance will be the star of the opening show. On 1 and 2 July, at the Teatre Grec, the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company will be performing a Mixed Programme (Metamorphers, Echoes from a Restless Soul, Moto Perpetuo), three choreographies by its director, Jacopo Godani.

From 1 to 31 July, the city will be able to enjoy a total of 102 dance, theatre, music and circus shows, with 27 world premières (17 theatre, 6 dance and 4 music) and 32 international productions.

This year's festival offers different trails with performances arranged by theme and target audience, making it easier to choose:

- The Greece at the Grec Festival trail, which presents works with a Mediterranean flavour, such as Troyanas and Clean City.

- Summer Nights, a trail on which to enjoy refreshing summer nights under the stars on Montjuïc mountain: Vagamundo, Tempo de Luz and Calígula.

- The Selection trail, a choice aimed at audiences interested in the leading artists, such as Jacopo Godani and Israel Galván.

- Explorers, a trail where audiences can discover new types of staging, new languages and new spaces (Fugit, Cine, Utopia, and many more).

Finally, there are other trails, such as For the Family, designed for young and old alike, Creations, which includes proposals by the Grec and Collaborations, a trail in association or co-production with theatres and venues in Barcelona.

The Grec 2017 also offers an intense programme of parallel activities with presentations at various libraries by the festival director, conversations with artists, audience and after-show workshops, open rehearsals and many more events, with full details available on the Grec website.
